Take It Back
Written by Brian Kittrell · This Big Broken World
The Story Behind the Song
The direct answer to the title track, and its twin -- same diagnosis, opposite prescription. Where "This Big Broken World" shrugs, "Take It Back" argues that indifference is a choice, and a reversible one: check on a neighbor, push back gently on the people spreading more noise than help. It's the album's one moment of actual hope for repair rather than just naming the damage.

Lyrics
Everything's fine if you keep closin' your eyes, You can still pay attention without buyin' their lies. We can build it up, we can still take it back, Lend a hand instead of pilin' on the stack. Ever felt the chill on the darkest winter night? Draws you in closer to the warm firelight. Got your own problems — I get it, it's true, But there's a coat you don't wear — doesn't have to be new. This big broken world's stackin' pain everyday, We just roll on by, 'n look the other way. We're goin' blind while our hearts turn to stone, Ain't nobody askin' you to fix it alone. The suits won’t solve nothin’, you already know, They pocket your taxes and got nothin’ to show. And people get loud when somethin' ain't right, You ain't gotta hear it, but you ain't gotta bite. It's a big broken world, 'n we better find the path, Or these next few years could be our last. The world keeps on spinnin', we all know that's true, But while it keeps turnin', there's things we can do. We can help out our neighbors — see what they need. Say 'Hell No!' to these wars — or plant a few seeds. Gotta talk to our children, 'n make sure they know, Ain't a problem too tall if we all take some home... This big broken world's stackin' pain everyday, We just roll on by, 'n look the other way. We're goin' blind while our hearts turn to stone, Ain't nobody askin' you to fix it alone. This big broken world's stackin' pain everyday, We just roll on by, 'n look the other way. We're goin' blind while our hearts turn to stone, Ain't nobody askin' you to fix it alone.
