The Story Behind the Song

The album's title track is written from inside willful indifference -- someone who's turned off the news and decided none of the world's problems are their responsibility. It's meant to sit a little too close to comfortable for anyone listening who recognizes the posture in themselves; the song doesn't excuse the apathy, it just lets it talk long enough to become uncomfortable.

Sadie McCoy's "Hers" edition performs this same song with her own vocal performance; per-track durations and a dedicated page for her edition aren't published yet.

Lyrics

I cut off the news and threw the paper away, Can't let any of that stuff mess up my day. They're always tryin' to make their problems mine, But on my end, everything's lookin' fine. What do I care 'bout some folks I'll never meet? Makin' all that noise, but they ought to take a seat. I got my own burdens and my own load to bear, Ain't none of my business if you ain't got nothin' to wear. This big broken world's been here long before me, It's gonna keep spinnin', just wait and you'll see. We ain't gonna change it so why even try? It's gonna be that way 'til the day that we die. Can barely walk the streets without another protest line, Let the government fix it, I paid my taxes on time. I wish all these strangers would just stay outta my face, Don't nobody want to hear it and got plenty to do back at my place. You come around beggin', well, I've seen that before, You can take yourself somewhere, just not outside my door. Take that cause with ya, and stop stealin' my air, Go look for some people out there, and some of them might care. This big broken world's been here long before me, It's gonna keep spinnin', just wait and you'll see. We ain't gonna change it so why even try? It's gonna be that way 'til the day that we die.
